Hello, I'm Abbey! I am an artist, yoga and meditation teacher, chef, traveler, global connector, farmer, and permaculturalist (sustainable agriculture). Through each of these forms of healing, I hope to connect individuals to body, mind, and spirit. We live in a time of great ecological, economic, and political crisis, and I aspire to bring humans into deeper relation with one another and the Earth. I hope to bring joy and hope into a world that often feels disconnected and fear-driven. Through my art, yoga, and travels, I explore how we are all interconnected, and thus how we can join together to build a more resilient world.
I draw from my experiences studying Global Studies, Spanish, and Social Entrepreneurship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have learned and grown extensively through my 200-hour yoga teacher training, a 10-week permaculture immersion at The Eco-Institute, social and environmental activism based out of UNC's campus Y, and extended internships in London, Colombia, and Uganda. Through my experiences working on climate, gender, racial, education, and food justice, I hope to bring a fresh perspective to addressing the world's most urgent needs.
Enjoy looking through my videos, photos, writing pieces, poetry, art and more. I hope you find inspiration and that we can collaborate in cultivating a beautiful world. Please reach out if you are interested in a commissioned art piece or hiring me as a catering event chef or garden consultant. Additionally, I am available to teach yoga, meditation, and intuitive art classes for children, teens, or women's groups.
Much love and joy,
Abbey Joy Cmiel
